In this guide, the acutal laptop is Lenovo / IBM Thinkpad T43.  The keyboards of Thinkpad T40 T41 T42 R50 R51 R52 are the same, the disassembly procedure should be similar.

First of all, shut down your Thinkpad T42 / T43. Disconnect the AC adapter and remove the battery.

1. If your laptop is 15", remove three screws securing the Thinkpad T42 / T43 keyboard on the bottom of the laptop.

2. If your laptop is 14.1", remove four screws securing the Thinkpad T42 / T43 keyboard on the bottom of the laptop.

3. Insert a sharp object between the bottom of the keyboard and palm rest and carefully lift up the Thinkpad T42 / T43 keyboard.

4. Disconnect the keyboard cable from the motherboard.

5. Remove the Thinkpad T42 / T43 keyboard.

Reverse the procedure to install your new Lenovo / IBM thinkpad T42 T43 keyboard.

Notice: Thinkpad T40 T41 T42 T43 R50 R51 R52 have different types, one is 15" and the other one is 14.1". Their keyboards also have two, they are different but very similar. Please be careful when you choose the replacement for your keyboard.
